ZAMBIA
Unspoilt, diverse and rich in scenic beauty and
wildlife, Zambia is home to some of the most
breathtaking natural attractions in the world. Situated
in the tropical belt of south central Africa, Zambia is
as large as France, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary
combined. Zambia offers visitors an escape from the
holiday masses and an opportunity to savour an
environment that has remained largely unchanged for
millennia.
The country
is renowned for its vast protected wilderness areas: it
has 19 national parks. South Luangwa Park is arguably
home to the most diverse range of game in Africa. A
landlocked country, it has many lakes with excellent
beaches for those who like to swim and enjoy water
sports in uncrowded surroundings. The many rivers cater
to the water enthusiasts with opportunities for canoeing
and rafting through spectacular scenery and unspoiled
wilderness areas. The swirling Grade 5 rapids of the
Zambesi below Victoria Falls are said to be the best
rafting waters in the world.
Fisherman
will be pleased to hear that it’s a popular past time in
these parts and Lake Kariba offers excellent tiger
fishing. Zambia is the birthplace of the walking safari
which offers an unparalleled opportunity to get up close
and personal with nature. The welcome given to tourists
by the Zambian people is legendary and their traditional
ceremonies and festivals provide an additional cultural
dimension to holidaymakers seeking a holistic
experience.
